The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) will showcase some of its most advanced innovations for national security during the 77th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path and Bharat Parv 2026.

DRDO will present the Long Range Anti-Ship Hypersonic Missile (LR-AShM) with launcher during the parade. Designed to meet the Indian Navy’s coastal battery requirements, the LR-AShM features indigenous avionics and high-accuracy sensor packages.

The missile achieves hypersonic speeds starting at Mach 10 and maintains an average Mach 5.0 with multiple skips. It follows a quasi-ballistic trajectory and engages both static and moving targets. Flying at low altitude with high manoeuvrability, the missile remains undetected by enemy radars for most of its flight path.

Configured with a two-stage solid propulsion rocket motor, the LR-AShM boosts to hypersonic velocity before Stage-II burnout. It then performs an unpowered glide with atmospheric manoeuvres to strike its target.

At Bharat Parv, DRDO will display its tableau themed “Naval Technologies for Combat Submarines.” The exhibit includes the Integrated Combat Suite (ICS), Wire Guided Heavy Weight Torpedo (WGHWT), and Air Independent Propulsion (AIP).

The ICS provides unparalleled situational awareness for underwater warfare, enabling tactical decisions and weapon guidance. Developed collaboratively by eight DRDO labs and 150 industry partners, it represents a major leap in submarine defence.

The WGHWT serves as a lethal submarine-launched torpedo, countering ship and submarine threats with high speed and endurance. Meanwhile, the AIP system enhances submarine stealth by generating silent underwater propulsion through locally developed phosphoric acid fuel cells.

Several DRDO-developed systems will also feature in Armed Forces contingents at Kartavya Path, including the Arjun Main Battle Tank, Nag Missile System (NAMIS-II), Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System, BrahMos Missile, Akash, Battlefield Surveillance Radar, and Anti-Tank Guided Missile.

DRDO continues to reinforce the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by partnering with academia, industry, and the Armed Forces. Indigenous development of these systems marks a significant achievement in defence self-reliance and strengthens India’s strategic capabilities.
