The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Sarat Kumar Sethy, Revenue Inspector of Tudigadia under Khaira Tahasil, for allegedly taking a Rs 5,000 bribe to facilitate issuance of a Record of Rights (ROR) in a mutation case.
According to officials, Sethy demanded the bribe from an applicant seeking a favourable field enquiry report for mutation of his ancestral land. When the applicant refused and reported the matter, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Sethy red‑handed in his office while accepting the money.
The entire tainted amount of Rs 5,000 was recovered from his possession and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched at two locations linked to Sethy from the disproportionate assets angle.
A case has been registered under Baleshwar Vigilance PS Case No. 15/2026, U/S‑7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and investigation is underway.
Odisha Vigilance reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in public offices through swift action against corruption.
