Sambalpur: A child suspected to be a newborn reportedly fell into an abandoned borewell at a field near Laripalli village in the Rengali area in Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
As per reports, some locals walking along the forest first heard a child crying and found that the sound was coming from inside the borewell. They immediately informed the Fire Department.
Soon, a team of fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and initiated efforts to rescue the child.
However, it is not clear how the baby fell into the borewell. Locals suspect that somebody might have thrown the baby inside the borewell.
