Royal Challengers Bengaluru mounted a solid chase against Gujarat Titans after being set a competitive target of 206 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
At the latest update, RCB reached 70/1 in seven overs, with Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal building a steady partnership following an early setback.
Kohli Anchors the Chase
Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch, striking boundaries with confidence and maintaining a healthy scoring rate of around 10 runs per over. After an early reprieve when he was dropped in the first over, Kohli capitalised on the opportunity and took control of the innings.
Padikkal complemented him well, playing elegant strokes, including a six over extra cover, to keep the scoreboard moving.
Early Breakthrough for Gujarat Titans
Mohammed Siraj provided Gujarat Titans with an early breakthrough by dismissing Jacob Bethell. The batter attempted an aggressive shot but was caught at cover point, leaving RCB at 26/1.
Despite the wicket, RCB maintained momentum through positive stroke play and effective strike rotation.
Sudharsan’s Century Powers GT to 205/3
Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans posted a strong total of 205/3, thanks to a brilliant century by Sai Sudharsan. He reached his third IPL hundred in just 57 balls, showcasing exceptional timing and consistency.
Sudharsan’s innings was supported by contributions from the middle order, while Jason Holder added crucial late runs to push the total beyond 200.
However, GT fell slightly short of a more imposing total as they could not accelerate fully in the death overs.
