In a significant push towards industrial growth and rural development, Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday launched and laid the foundation stones for 304 projects worth ₹580 crore in Bolangir district.

The announcement was made during the state-level celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day, where the Chief Minister emphasized the transformative potential of these initiatives for Western Odisha’s economy.

Sugar Mill and Textile Park to Drive Industrial Growth

Highlighting key industrial developments, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of a new sugar mill and a textile park in Bolangir. These projects are expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen local industries, and enhance the region’s economic landscape.

Healthcare and Infrastructure Expansion

Among the major initiatives, a new Nursing College at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital will be developed to improve healthcare education and services in the district.

The large-scale project rollout reflects the state government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure across rural and semi-urban areas.

Focus on Rural Development and Governance

Recalling his experience as a former Sarpanch, CM Majhi described Panchayats as the backbone of democracy and reiterated his commitment to inclusive growth.

He also launched the Panchayati Raj Samikshya Portal, aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in rural governance.

Housing and Welfare Initiatives

In a major welfare push, the Chief Minister:

  • Distributed work orders to over 50,000 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana
  • Announced that Odisha will receive 10 lakh additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
  • Reaffirmed the government’s goal to provide piped drinking water to every household by March 2027, backed by an investment of ₹54,000 crore

Strong Budget Allocation for Rural Growth

The event was attended by Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Rabi Narayan Nayak, who highlighted the state’s commitment to rural development with a record budget allocation of ₹44,309 crore for the current financial year.
