Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered one of the most ruthless performances of IPL 2026, dismantling Delhi Capitals for a mere 75 before racing to victory in just 6.3 overs at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The nine-wicket triumph showcased RCB’s dominance across all departments and left Delhi reeling from their lowest total of the season.
Sent in to bat, Delhi endured a nightmare start, collapsing to 8 for 6 inside four overs as the ball swung and seamed under lights. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was sensational with the new ball, claiming 3 for 5 in three overs with relentless movement and control. Josh Hazlewood followed with precision, ripping through the middle order to finish with 4 for 12. Only Abishek Porel offered resistance, scoring 30 off 33 balls, but the innings folded in 16.3 overs.
The chase was a formality. Jacob Bethell struck a brisk 20 off 11 balls before falling, after which Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal finished the job with authority. Padikkal was particularly destructive, smashing 34 not out from just 13 deliveries at a strike rate above 260, while Kohli guided the chase with an unbeaten 23 off 15. Bengaluru sealed the win with 81 balls to spare, underlining their superiority.
It was a statement victory built on bowling excellence. Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood shared seven wickets for just 17 runs, while Suyash Sharma conceded only seven runs in four overs. RCB’s all-round dominance turned the contest into a one-sided spectacle and earned them two points with emphatic clarity.
