Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a suite of development initiatives valued at over Rs 5,200 crore during his visit to Siwan today, signalling a decisive push for Bihar’s infrastructural, economic, and social transformation.
The projects span a wide range, from the launch of the Patliputra–Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express to the first-ever export of a Marhowra-built locomotive to Africa, highlighting Bihar’s emerging role in the global supply chain. Addressing a large gathering, PM Modi paid tribute to local icons, including Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Jayaprakash Narayan, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the region’s holistic development.
Notably, over 50,000 beneficiaries received housing instalments under PMAY, with many homes registered in women’s names—underscoring a gender-inclusive development model. Water supply, sanitation, and energy projects were also unveiled, including new sewage treatment plants under the Namami Gange mission and a Rs 3,000 crore initiative for urban water infrastructure.
“Bihar, once a symbol of forced migration, is now driving India’s growth engine,” PM Modi asserted, highlighting the construction of 55,000 km of rural roads and near-universal access to electricity and drinking water as major achievements. He credited the double-engine government for restoring dignity and opportunity to marginalised communities.
He cautioned against regressive political forces aiming to derail Bihar’s progress and urged citizens to remain vigilant. “With robust investments and youth-led innovation, Bihar will soon become a global hub of ‘Made in India’ excellence,” PM Modi affirmed.
