President of India Droupadi Murmu today interacted with a group of grassroots innovators under the Atal Innovation Mission at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre.
She also visited the exhibition set up by the innovators, witnessing their work and engaging with them directly.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said India has the potential to become a global powerhouse in grassroots innovation by leveraging its scale and spirit of creativity. She emphasised that grassroots innovations are uniquely suited to society’s needs as they combine local experience, scientific thinking, individual creativity, and social responsibility.
She noted that innovators across the country are developing solutions for local problems with national significance, ranging from waste‑to‑wealth initiatives, energy conservation, women’s convenience, disability support, environmental protection, agriculture, and preservation of art.
The President highlighted the role of Atal Community Innovation Centres in guiding grassroots talent, providing technical support, and helping transform ideas into sustainable enterprises. She stressed that the dream of Viksit Bharat will be realised when every citizen works with an innovation mindset.
Murmu praised innovators for persisting despite limited resources and challenges, urging them to refine their ideas, collaborate with research institutions and industry, and scale their innovations to benefit wider society.
