India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a firm warning to neighbouring countries against any potential “misadventure” during the ongoing US–Iran conflict.
Speaking at a public event in Kerala, Singh emphasised that India is fully prepared to respond with “unprecedented and decisive” action if provoked.
Clear Message to Neighbouring Countries
Without naming any specific country, Rajnath Singh stated that India’s neighbour could attempt opportunistic actions amid the current global instability.
He asserted that:
- Any hostile act would invite a strong and decisive response
- India remains vigilant given the evolving geopolitical situation
- Ongoing military preparedness ensures national security
The remarks are widely seen as directed towards Pakistan, especially in the context of past conflicts.
Operation Sindoor Still Active
The Defence Minister reiterated that Operation Sindoor is not over, signalling continued strategic alertness.
The operation was launched in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in 2025. Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure across the border, leading to a brief but intense military escalation.
India Assures Energy Security
Addressing public concerns over a potential fuel shortage due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Singh reassured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or gas in the country.
He highlighted that:
- Indian Navy ships are actively escorting fuel tankers
- The government is monitoring global supply disruptions
- Adequate reserves are in place to manage any crisis
He also cautioned against misinformation that could create unnecessary panic among citizens.
Safety of Indians Abroad a Priority
Rajnath Singh also addressed concerns regarding Indian citizens working in West Asia, particularly from Kerala.
He assured that:
- The government is ready to take all necessary steps to ensure their safety
- Continuous monitoring of the situation is underway
- Evacuation or assistance measures will be implemented if required
Political Unity Urged During Crisis
The Defence Minister criticised opposition parties for engaging in political disagreements during a sensitive time, urging all stakeholders to prioritise national interest and unity.
As the US–Iran conflict continues to impact global stability, India has reaffirmed its readiness to safeguard national security, maintain energy stability, and protect its citizens both at home and abroad.
