Puri Police launched a cyber awareness campaign ahead of Rath Yatra 2026 to protect devotees and tourists from online scams.
The advisory urges visitors to remain cautious while booking hotels, making donations, or sharing personal information online.
The department advised people to book hotels and travel only through trusted and verified platforms. It also encouraged verification of donation links before contributing to any campaign. Officials warned against clicking suspicious links or sharing OTPs, banking details, or personal data with unknown sources.
The alert highlights the growing threat of fake websites, duplicate booking portals, and fraudulent donation drives that often target pilgrims during major festivals. Puri Police emphasised that awareness and caution are key to preventing cybercrime.
The advisory includes emergency contact numbers and chatbot assistance for reporting suspicious activities. Citizens can reach the Puri Police Chatbot at 8763199400 or dial 112 for immediate help.
The campaign reinforces the department’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for devotees visiting Puri during Rath Yatra 2026.
