The holy city of Puri is immersed in devotion as preparations reach their peak for the sacred Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra, scheduled for June 29.
Workers completed decorative painting and colourful adornment of the Snana Mandap, the Bathing Pavilion of the Sri Jagannath Temple. The ritual involves bathing the deities with 108 pitchers of sacred water, marking one of the most significant ceremonies before the annual Rath Yatra.
After the sacred bath, the deities enter the Anasara period, remaining out of public view for 15 days before reappearing during Rath Yatra. Lakhs of devotees are expected to gather in Puri to witness the divine spectacle.
The district administration and Odisha Police have deployed elaborate security measures, including crowd management and traffic control, to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival. CCTV surveillance, barricades, and emergency response teams are in place to safeguard devotees.
The Snana Yatra stands as one of Odisha’s grandest religious events, symbolising the deep faith and cultural heritage associated with Lord Jagannath. The atmosphere in Puri reflects spiritual fervour and anticipation as devotees await the sacred rituals.
