Professor Jagneshwar Dandapat has been appointed as he in-charge Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Utkal University on Tuesday.
The decision, as stated in an official notification, is effective immediately and will continue until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Prof. Dandapat, currently heading the Department of Biotechnology at Utkal University, has been serving in the department since June 2020. His appointment comes as part of an administrative transition following the tenure extension of the previous VC, Prof. Sabita Acharya, in November 2024.
The leadership shift follows similar moves across other state universities, with temporary appointments ensuring continuity in academic and administrative functions. Earlier, Prof. Chandi Charan Rath was designated as the in-charge VC of Ramadevi Women’s University.
University officials and faculty members have expressed optimism about Prof. Dandapat’s leadership, citing his vast academic expertise and commitment to advancing research initiatives at the institution.
