The President of India approved the prestigious Police Colour award for Odisha Police, marking a historic recognition of distinguished service.
The Ministry of Home Affairs conveyed the decision through an official communication to the Chief Secretary of Odisha. The letter confirmed that the proposal submitted by the state government and Odisha Police Headquarters received approval.
The Police Colour award represents the highest honour for a police force in India. It acknowledges exceptional dedication, discipline, and achievements in maintaining law and order. Odisha Police earned this distinction after decades of service marked by resilience, modernisation, and success in tackling challenges such as Maoist insurgency, cybercrime, and narcotics control.
Officials emphasised that the award highlights Odisha Police’s commitment to its motto “Service and Security.” The recognition also reflects the force’s contributions to national security and its role in safeguarding citizens.
The announcement comes as Odisha Police celebrates its 91st Foundation Day, adding significance to the honour. Senior officers described the award as a milestone that strengthens morale and inspires personnel to continue their mission with renewed determination.
The President’s Police Colour award will be formally presented in a ceremonial event, where the Odisha Police flag will be adorned with the emblem of distinction.
