Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced a major leap in the state’s technology and industrial growth with the signing of two landmark MoUs — one with global IT giant HCLTech and another with indigenous AI firm Sarvam AI.
The agreements, signed at the Convention Centre of Lok Seva Bhawan in the presence of industry leaders and government officials, will pave the way for the establishment of a Global Delivery Centre by HCLTech and a sovereign AI Park with an AI‑optimised Data Centre in Odisha.
The Chief Minister said the initiatives mark the beginning of a new revolution in Odisha’s industrial and technology sectors. With an initial investment of Rs 730 crore, the projects will generate direct employment for over 6,000 skilled youth. Over the next five years, the combined investment is expected to reach Rs 15,000 crore.
Majhi emphasised that Odisha aims to secure a place among the top three states in NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index, highlighting the state’s rapid progress in semiconductor, AI, pharma, textiles, and IT sectors. He noted that Sarvam AI’s indigenous platform, capable of supporting Odia and other Indian languages, will ensure that AI services are accessible directly from Odisha.
HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra expressed gratitude to the Odisha government and announced plans to establish a dedicated AI Park in the state, calling it a milestone in India’s artificial intelligence journey.
State IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling described the moment as historic, underscoring Odisha’s emergence as a hub for electronics and IT.
