Bhubaneswar: A day after the pictures of some top politicians with woman blackmailer Archana Nag and her husband came to fore, speculations is doing rounds about the link of other bigwigs in the alleged honey trap case.
A photo of Cabinet Minister Jagannath Saraka with Archana’s husband surfaced on social media. Similarly, Archana, her husband Jagabandhu Chand and former Speaker and Digapahandi MLA Surjya Narayan Patra were also seen in a single frame. Another picture of Congress MLA Suresh Routray’s son Manmath with the couple also appeared on different social media platforms.
Giving a clarification on the issue, Minister Saraka said that he couldn’t recall the time of the snap with them. Former MLA Surjya Narayan Patro felt wise to remain mum on the issue.
Likewise, Suresh Routray demanded a high-level investigation into the involvement of whoever he may be in the case.
BJP, however, attacked the police saying that they are working at the behest of ruling party.
Party general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar said police act as per the directive of their political boss. Whatever has happened today is in the knowledge of police. Politicians’ involvement in the alleged honey trap can never be cracked as police would not probe the case impartially, she alleged.
Similarly, Bhubaneswar district president of BJP Babu Singh alleged that around 20 to 25 BJD leaders were in constant touch with the woman. They should be exposed, he demanded.
On the other hand, police who had remained silence since the arrest of the blackmailer asserted that the investigation is in the right direction.
DCP Prateek Singh, at pressers, said that every aspect of the case is opened for them. If needed, measures will be taken to bring her on remand for more investigation.
Similarly, the properties in the name of Archana will also be investigated. Her bank balance, landed properties and company if any in her name will also come under purview of investigation, Singh added.
Two days ago, Khandagiri police had arrested Archana Nag following a complaint lodged by another woman. She alleged that Archana and her husband are part of a honey trap gang which had some young women and they allegedly honey-trap some high-profile persons after developing intimacy with them. Taking the advantage of their intimacy, they used to blackmail them for extortion.
