Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Gurugram section of the Dwarka Expressway on March 11.
According to NHAI officials, approximately 99 per cent of the work on the Gurugram section of the expressway has been finished, with around 90 per cent completion in the Delhi segment.
In view of the inauguration of Dwarka Expressway by PM Modi Gurugram Traffic Police has issued an advisory prohibiting heavy vehicles to ply on the road. A senior traffic police officer said the prime minister will also hold a rally on the same day near the Antriksh Chowk, due to which traffic congestion is expected in the area.
The construction of the 18.7km segment of the expressway in Gurgaon was finalized last year, yet its opening to traffic was withheld due to a pending safety audit by NHAI. The remaining 10km portion within Delhi is anticipated to be completed within a few months. The completion of the Dwarka Expressway is poised to alleviate congestion on NH-8 and offer an alternate route for commuting between Delhi and Gurgaon.
Upon its inauguration, the expressway will intersect key areas like Harsaru, Pataudi Road, Farrukhnagar, and Sector 88(B), thereby enhancing connectivity for Gurugram residents. It will establish links among various sectors within the Gurugram, including sectors 83, 84, 88, 99, and 113, as well as with Dwarka Sector 21 and Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Once operational, it will particularly benefit the newly developed sectors by reducing travel time between Delhi and Gurgaon and fostering development in these areas through enhanced connectivity.
