Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a gathering in Gujarat today, celebrating two decades of the state’s transformative urban development journey.
Launching the Urban Development Year 2025, the Prime Minister outlined ambitious plans to shape the future of urban infrastructure and sustainability.
During his speech, Modi emphasised that urban areas should not merely expand but evolve as economic hubs, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the government’s success in nurturing startups, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where young entrepreneurs, many of them women, are driving India’s economic renaissance.
Reflecting on India’s rapid economic ascent, Modi reiterated his vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, positioning the country as a global leader. The event also saw the inauguration of multiple urban development projects, including improvements in transportation, housing, and clean air initiatives.
With Gujarat as a model for urban excellence, Modi urged municipalities nationwide to adopt structured economic growth strategies, ensuring Indian cities become engines of prosperity.
