The 24th instalment of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi’ (PM-KISAN) scheme was directly transferred to eligible farmers’ bank accounts today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the national disbursement event virtually from Banaskantha, Gujarat, releasing over ₹18,690 crore to more than 9.34 crore farmers nationwide.
In Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the state-level celebration organised at the Krushi Sikshya Sadan in Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Khordha MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, and several other dignitaries who watched the live telecast alongside local farmers.
Rs 707.60 Crore Directly Transferred to 35 Lakh Odisha Farmers
Under the 24th PM-Kisan instalment, more than 35.38 lakh verified farmers in Odisha received Rs 2,000 each via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), amounting to a total state payout of Rs 707.60 crore. Celebrations were held across districts, blocks, panchayats, PACS, and mandis to mark the occasion. Chief Minister Majhi also interacted directly with farmers from various parts of the state during the event.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi stated, “For us, farmers are not just cultivators; they are our Annadatas (food providers). PM Narendra Modi has introduced visionary programs from day one to ensure farmers get their rightful dues.”
He urged all eligible farmers to register on the AgriStack portal via their nearest revenue or agriculture office to ensure seamless delivery of government assistance.
Record 5-Fold Jump in Krushi Vidyanidhi Scholarships
Highlighting state-led interventions, Chief Minister Majhi emphasised the CM-Kisan scheme, which provides ₹4,000 annually to small and marginal farmers and ₹12,500 in livelihood assistance to landless agricultural families, including urban and vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).
Under the complementary Krushi Vidyanidhi scholarship program—designed to support higher education for children of CM-Kisan beneficiaries in medical, engineering, and agricultural fields—scholarship distribution saw a historic leap. Beneficiary student numbers rose from 13,923 (₹53.69 crore) in 2024–25 to an all-time high of 68,910 students receiving ₹291.60 crore in 2025–26, marking a nearly fivefold increase.
Additionally, under the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, the state continues to procure paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal, resulting in record farmer registrations this season.
Assurance of Disaster Relief for Crop Losses
Addressing recent crop damage caused by heavy rainfall, floods, and Cyclone ‘Arnab’, the Chief Minister assured farmers that comprehensive assessments are underway.
“No matter what adversity strikes, your government and Chief Minister stand shoulder to shoulder with you in your times of trial. Proper compensation will be disbursed swiftly according to the guidelines,” Majhi affirmed.
Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo reiterated that the government remains fully committed to supporting farmers through natural disasters and executing transformative agricultural policies.
The event concluded with senior officials from the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, including Principal Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Yadav and Director Subhransu Mishra, present alongside key stakeholders.
