The Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the Government of Odisha has issued a formal notification (RDM-Reg-MISC-0014-2026) dated 30 October 2026, directing concerned authorities and courts to take up the correction of specific land records from the 1956-57 (Khan year 1077) settlement period.
According to the order, entries listed in Schedule-“A” — covering certain thana, bar-barshi, and sthanantar (relocation) details along with corresponding revenue numbers — are to be corrected or updated in the relevant revenue records by the designated courts. The notification further provides that cases falling under Schedule-“B” may proceed with the required corrections once necessary approvals are obtained from the competent authorities, ensuring that the process remains orderly and legally sound.
This step is expected to help clear long-pending discrepancies in older land records, which often affect mutation, ownership clarification, and subsequent administrative or legal processes. By linking the historical settlement data with current revenue numbers, the department aims to improve accuracy in the land record system and reduce disputes arising from outdated entries.
Officials have been asked to act on the lists provided in the schedules while following due process. The notification reinforces the state’s ongoing efforts to modernise and clean up revenue records, a priority under the present administration for better governance and citizen convenience.
The order has been issued under the department’s miscellaneous registration and land-related file series and carries the standard authentication of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
