Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Khetramohan Nayak, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Radhadeipur Gram Panchayat under Sanakhemundi Block, Ganjam district, for embezzling government funds worth Rs 43,01,640.

Nayak is accused of diverting funds from the CFC, SFC, PDS, and OAP accounts of the gram panchayat by misusing his official power. He reportedly forged the signature of the Sarapanch and withdrew the money through cheques from accounts held at Axis Bank and Canara Bank, Digapahandi Branch.

Investigations reveal that Nayak, who joined government service in July 2024, began siphoning funds soon after his appointment. The misappropriated money was allegedly used for cricket betting and transactions on gaming applications.

A case has been registered at Berhampur Vigilance Police Station under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Vigilance officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
