Royal Challengers Bengaluru lit up Dharamshala with a batting masterclass in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026, posting a mammoth 254/5 against Gujarat Titans.

The innings was anchored by Rajat Patidar’s breathtaking 93 off just 33 balls, a knock that included nine towering sixes and five crisp boundaries.

Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal provided a solid foundation, stitching together a fluent partnership that set the tone for RCB’s dominance. Kohli’s timing and Padikkal’s aggression ensured the Titans’ bowlers were under pressure from the outset. Jason Holder briefly halted the charge with a double strike, dismissing both openers in quick succession, but Patidar’s arrival reignited the fireworks.

Patidar’s fearless strokeplay dismantled Gujarat’s pace attack, while Jitesh Sharma added late impetus with a flurry of boundaries in the death overs. The Titans’ bowlers, despite breakthroughs from Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna, struggled to contain the relentless assault.

RCB’s batting brilliance was complemented by their season-long consistency, with Kohli and Padikkal forming one of the most prolific partnerships in the tournament. Their combined tally of 552 runs at a strike rate of 176 has been a cornerstone of the team’s campaign.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans entered the contest with the most potent bowling unit of IPL 2026, having claimed 102 wickets this season. Rabada, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Siraj have spearheaded their attack, making GT the only side to cross the 100-wicket mark. Their top order, led by Sai Sudharsan (638 runs) and Shubman Gill (616 runs), remains equally formidable, ensuring the chase promises high drama.

With both teams evenly matched in head-to-head encounters—four wins apiece—the stakes could not be higher. The winner secures a direct berth in the final, while the loser gets another shot in Qualifier 2. Dharamshala’s pace-friendly pitch adds another layer of intrigue, setting the stage for a thrilling contest between batting firepower and bowling depth.
