The Odisha Vigilance department has unearthed ₹7.29 lakh in cash and recovered around 300 grams of gold jewellery during searches at the premises of Akash Bisoi, District Labour Officer (DLO), Kendujhar.
Bisoi, an Odisha Labour Service (OLS-I) officer, was allegedly caught by Odisha Vigilance while accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from an electrical contractor. The bribe was allegedly sought for granting a labour licence in favour of the contractor’s agency.
Following the trap, the Vigilance department conducted simultaneous searches at two locations linked to Bisoi as part of a disproportionate assets (DA) investigation.
During the searches, officials recovered and seized ₹7,29,200 in cash from his government residential quarter in Kendujhar. Investigators also recovered approximately 300 grams of gold jewellery.
The seizure was made as part of the ongoing Vigilance investigation into the officer’s assets and the circumstances surrounding the alleged bribe.
The Odisha Vigilance department is continuing its investigation, and a detailed report is expected to follow.
