Paradip: Tension sparked in a village under Paradipgarh PS in Jagatsinghpur district after a group of residents attacked a police team in civil dress during a raid to nab an accused here.
The locals, who attacked the police, succeeded in freeing the accused Trinath Dalei from the custody of the police team, an officer said.
Reportedly, a four-member police team from Abhaychand police station raided the area to execute a warrant and arrest Dalei.
However, the operation was interrupted by the locals who attacked the cop. While Dalei managed to escape, a sub-inspector was injured in the attack.
Later, a team lead by the Additional SP reached the spot and detained seven persons for attacking police personnel.
Two platoons of police force have been deployed in the village and the area has been cordoned off.
