A remark made by Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during a press conference on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor has triggered widespread reactions online.
The Pakistan military spokesperson questioned why Indian military officials addressed the media in English during Thursday’s press briefing marking one year of Operation Sindoor.
His comments came shortly after senior Indian military officers held a joint press conference discussing the impact and outcomes of the military operation conducted on May 7, 2025.
‘Why Are They Speaking English?’ Comment Goes Viral
Reacting to India’s media briefing, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry remarked:
“Why are they speaking English? Is it because you want to tell the world what happened?”
The statement quickly went viral on social media, with many users questioning the logic behind the criticism and sharing clips of the exchange online.
According to reports, Chaudhry addressed the media alongside Rear Admiral Shifaat Ali Khan and Air Vice Marshal Tariq Ghazi.
India Marked One Year of Operation Sindoor
India observed the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the military operation launched in response to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
The operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and later escalated into a four-day military conflict between the two countries.
During Thursday’s briefing, Indian military officials highlighted the scale of damage allegedly inflicted on terror camps and military infrastructure across the border.
Indian Air Force Details Impact of Operation
AK Bharti stated that Indian forces destroyed multiple terror camps and targeted several Pakistani airfields during the operation.
According to the Indian military briefing:
- Nine terror camps were destroyed on May 7, 2025
- Eleven Pakistani airfields were targeted
- Thirteen Pakistani aircraft were reportedly destroyed, including a high-value airborne asset
Indian officials also maintained that India’s military and civilian infrastructure did not suffer major damage during the conflict.
Pakistan Repeats Earlier Claims on Military Conflict
During Pakistan’s press conference, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry described India’s operation as “unprovoked,” a claim consistently rejected by India.
Pakistan also reiterated earlier claims regarding the downing of Indian fighter jets, allegations that Indian authorities have repeatedly denied.
Meanwhile, AP Singh previously stated that Pakistan suffered heavy losses during the conflict, including damage to aircraft such as F-16 and JF-17 fighter jets.
Pakistan Signals Openness to Dialogue With India
Separately, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Islamabad remained open to dialogue with India if discussions were “meaningful.”
According to Andrabi, Pakistan has repeatedly expressed willingness for talks but believes dialogue must involve mutual engagement rather than one-sided communication.
Operation Sindoor Remains Major Strategic Event
Operation Sindoor continues to be viewed as one of India’s most significant cross-border military responses in recent years.
Indian officials have stated that more than 100 terrorists were killed during the operation and that multiple terror and military facilities inside Pakistan suffered substantial damage.
The anniversary events and renewed exchange of statements between India and Pakistan have once again brought regional security and bilateral tensions into focus.
