Nayapalli Police arrested a mother-son duo for running a rental house cheating racket using fake OLX advertisements. The accused are D. Surya Kumari (56) and her son Siddharth Samal (33) of Paikanagar.
Complainant Arun Kumar Pradhan from Kandhamal was shown a house near Baramunda Delta Square and paid ₹76,000 (advance rent + medical excuse). The duo never handed over the house.
Police found they regularly posted low-rent ads for already-rented flats on OLX, signed agreements, collected advance money, and vanished. Around 10–15 people were cheated. More than six similar cases are registered against them at Nayapalli PS.
