Chandrasekharpur Police arrested a husband-wife duo in a ₹1.47 crore land fraud case linked to a plot in Sahidnagar.
The accused, Shrimanta Kalasa (63) and his wife Soumya Subhadarshini Kalasa (43), allegedly cheated Sudhir Kumar Panigrahi of Kaibalyavihar by falsely claiming close ties with the owner of Plot No. A-357.
Between January 2021 and August 2022, the complainant transferred a total of ₹1.47 crore via bank and cash. After receiving the money, the couple allegedly produced fake documents and avoided registration. Investigation revealed the funds were invested in their firms — M/s Shritech Industries (Khordha) and Soumyashree Metal & Machinery (Choudwar), where Soumya is a director.
Police seized a Maruti WagonR (OD-02-BV-3413), an MoU, and bank transaction records. Further probe into the financial trail is underway.
