In a forward-looking initiative to enhance administrative efficiency through technology, the Department of Women & Child Development (W&CD), Government of Odisha, organised a specialised training programme on March 13, 2026, at the State Institute for Women and Children (SIWC), Laxmisagar, Bhubaneswar.

The one-day programme, titled “Prompt Engineering, Data Analytics and PPT Creation through AI, Deep Research using various AI models etc.,” saw enthusiastic participation from around 100 officers and officials of the department. The event was graced by the Director of the Department, Monisha Banerjee, IAS, who actively engaged with participants throughout the sessions.

The training focused on practical, hands-on learning in key AI-driven areas. Sessions covered prompt engineering techniques to craft effective queries for AI models, utilisation of advanced AI platforms for in-depth research, data analytics tools to support evidence-based decision-making, and AI-assisted creation of professional PowerPoint presentations.

Participants received live demonstrations on how these technologies can dramatically reduce time spent on routine tasks such as drafting reports, analysing departmental data, conducting policy-related research, and preparing structured presentations. The interactive format allowed officers to experiment directly with various AI tools, gaining confidence in applying them to real-world administrative challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Smt. Monisha Banerjee emphasised the importance of building digital competencies among officers. “Integrating AI tools into our daily work will not only boost productivity but also promote greater transparency, accuracy, and innovation in the delivery of women and child welfare programmes,” she said.

The programme aligns with the state government’s broader vision of leveraging emerging technologies for responsive and citizen-centric governance. By equipping W&CD officers with these modern skills, the department aims to streamline processes, improve data-driven planning for schemes related to maternal health, child nutrition, women empowerment, and other flagship initiatives.

This capacity-building effort marks a proactive step by the W&CD Department in adopting AI for public service delivery, setting an example for other departments in Odisha and beyond.
