Odisha hosted a grand event celebrating the dedication and achievements of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The prestigious State Award Distribution Ceremony took place at the New Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan, where Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati presided as the chief guest.
The Governor commended the organisation’s vital role in shaping responsible citizens, emphasising the growing need for commitment, discipline, and ethical values in modern times. He encouraged young Scouts and Guides to embody compassion, honesty, and leadership, ensuring they become torchbearers of a promising future.
A highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of awards in eight distinct categories, celebrating exceptional contributions from various members. The Utkal Jyoti Honour, a prestigious recognition, was presented to Padma Shri Devi Prasanna Pattnaik for his outstanding service.
Among the dignitaries present were Odisha’s First Lady Jayashree Kambhampati, School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, and Higher Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs Minister Surya Banshi Suraj. Each speaker lauded the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement for its role in education, national service, and instilling values essential for a progressive society.
Odisha State Chief Commissioner Dr. Kali Prasad Mishra opened the event with a heartfelt welcome address, appreciating the unwavering efforts of Scouts, Guides, trainers, and volunteers in fostering teamwork, environmental awareness, and self-reliance.
