The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) issued 9,387 e‑challans across the state on Tuesday, underscoring its intensified efforts to curb traffic offences and promote safer road practices.
According to STA officials, helmetless riding accounted for the highest number of violations, with 5,197 challans issued to offenders. This was followed by 819 challans for overspeeding, 260 for driving without valid insurance, and 239 for triple riding.
The large‑scale enforcement highlights the authorities’ continued focus on ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and reducing the risk of accidents caused by reckless driving.
The STA urged motorists and road users to strictly follow traffic rules, wear helmets while riding two‑wheelers, avoid overspeeding, and ensure that vehicles carry valid insurance and necessary documents.
