The Odisha government has rolled out an intensive campaign to ensure all citizens aged 70 years and above are enrolled under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY).
The 10-day mission-mode initiative, running from June 12 to 21, aims to achieve 100% saturation by enrolling the remaining eligible elderly population.
Currently, only 3.45 lakh out of the targeted 23 lakh beneficiaries have been enrolled under the scheme, which offers ₹5 lakh annual health coverage. The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department has directed officials to mobilise resources efficiently, involving Common Service Centres (CSCs), ASHAs, ANMs, and village-level workers to streamline the enrollment process.
Under the plan, designated locations will facilitate on-the-spot digital registration through mobile health units. AVVY was launched in Odisha alongside Ayushman Bharat–PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. The scheme stands out for its non-discriminatory approach, ensuring healthcare benefits for all the elderly, irrespective of income or prior scheme inclusion.
The government hopes this focused outreach will bridge healthcare accessibility gaps for senior citizens. Officials urge eligible beneficiaries to participate in the enrollment drive and secure their health coverage under AVVY.
