A high‑level review meeting on Urban Development and Urban Mobility was held today at Kharabela Bhawan under the chairmanship of Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.
The meeting assessed progress of ongoing programmes and projects, with emphasis on expediting implementation, strengthening urban mobility, and ensuring timely utilisation of allocated funds. Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee, DMA Arindam Dakua, CRUT officers and departmental secretaries attended.
Dr Mahapatra directed officials to address bottlenecks, maintain close monitoring, and deliver outcome‑oriented implementation so that citizens see tangible benefits. He highlighted the Government’s focus on expanding affordable housing opportunities for EWS, LIG and MIG groups, and exploring rental housing solutions.
Referring to his recent visit to Maharashtra to study precast construction technology and the “Mission 100” model, the Minister said Odisha would examine adopting such methods to speed up quality housing construction.
On urban mobility, he stressed scaling up the ‘Odisha Yatri’ initiative across cities to provide reliable commuter services while supporting driver livelihoods. The meeting also reviewed monsoon‑related damage to roads and drainage, with directives to fast‑track repairs and prepare Storm Water Drainage Master Plans for all ULBs.
Dr Mahapatra further emphasised strengthening Development Authorities across districts to enhance town planning and coordinated urban expansion. He reiterated that Odisha’s urban development must remain citizen‑centric, resilient, and focused on visible improvements in quality of life.
