Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to bolster the state’s security apparatus, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the creation of 5,000 new home guard posts. This decision comes following the lifting of a recruitment ban imposed in 2020.
The Chief Minister revealed that the recruitment process for 2,416 of these positions will commence shortly, marking the first phase of the initiative. “The creation of these posts is a crucial step towards enhancing the safety and security of our citizens. We are committed to strengthening our home guard force to ensure better law and order in the state,” said Majhi.
The new home guard posts are expected to provide much-needed employment opportunities and support the state’s efforts in maintaining public order. The recruitment drive will follow a transparent and merit-based selection process, ensuring that the best candidates are chosen to serve.
This initiative is part of the Odisha government’s broader strategy to improve public safety and create job opportunities for the youth. The remaining positions will be filled in subsequent phases, with detailed plans to be announced in the coming months.
