The Odisha government has sought a comprehensive report regarding the controversy involving Chameli Ojha, the sarpanch of Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday said the government is closely monitoring the developments and will take appropriate action after examining official findings submitted by the concerned authorities.
Report Sought from Police and District Administration
According to the minister, the state government has already directed the district administration and police authorities to submit a detailed report on the matter.
Officials, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and administrative authorities, have been asked to provide a comprehensive account of the incident and related developments.
The government maintains that the facts surrounding the controversy can only be established after a thorough review of official reports and verified evidence.
Action to Be Based on Verified Facts
Speaking on the issue, Harichandan emphasized that it would be premature to draw conclusions based solely on information circulating through media reports and social media platforms.
He stated that the government intends to assess all available facts before determining accountability and deciding on any future course of action.
According to the minister, the administration is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness while handling the matter.
Government Monitoring Developments Closely
The Law Minister said the state government is fully aware of public discussions and claims related to the controversy.
However, he stressed that official findings are necessary to establish the accuracy of allegations and identify whether any wrongdoing has occurred.
Once the report is submitted, authorities will evaluate the circumstances and determine if further administrative or legal action is warranted.
Minister Comments on Political Reactions
Harichandan also noted that incidents of public significance often attract political reactions and differing interpretations from various stakeholders.
Without directly commenting on the political debate surrounding the controversy, he stated that the government’s focus remains on uncovering the facts through the official inquiry process.
The minister reiterated that decisions would be based on evidence rather than speculation.
Accountability Will Be Ensured, Says Government
The Odisha government has assured that accountability will be established once the investigation and fact-finding process are completed.
If the inquiry identifies any violations or misconduct, appropriate action will be considered against those found responsible. Conversely, if allegations are found to be unsubstantiated, the government will act accordingly based on the findings.
Officials have maintained that a balanced and evidence-based approach is essential before arriving at any conclusions.
Awaiting Official Findings
The controversy has generated considerable discussion across political and social circles in Odisha, drawing attention from both the public and policymakers.
As authorities continue their inquiry, all eyes are now on the report sought by the state government, which is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and guide any future action.
