A man accused of financial fraud related to a car loan repayment scheme was arrested by Nayapalli police, bringing closure to a prolonged investigation.
The case initially registered in February 2025, took a turn when new charges were added based on the findings.
The complainant had purchased a Maruti Suzuki WagonR three years ago through a loan but was unable to complete the repayment due to financial difficulties. In an attempt to resolve the debt, she transferred the vehicle to Bijaya Kumar Agrawalla (39) under an agreement that he would settle the outstanding loan. However, Agrawalla allegedly failed to make payments and went further to sell the car to another individual in Lakshmisagar without the complainant’s knowledge.
Upon investigation, police tracked the vehicle down and seized it from one Prakash Parija. Further inquiries revealed that Agrawalla had abandoned his rented house in November 2024, complicating attempts to trace him.
Based on reliable sources, police located and arrested Agrawalla, who later confessed to the fraud. Authorities suspect he may have been involved in similar financial deceit cases in the past.
The WagonR car has been seized, and the investigation remains ongoing as police look into possible additional offences linked to the accused.
