Bhubaneswar: Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha on Monday ordered to arrest of two out of three presiding officers after suspending them. The collector of Ganjam, Dibya Jyoti Parida has been notified to implement the order immediately.
Addressing a press meeting, CEO Dhal informed, “Now we have ordered Ganjam Collector to suspend three presiding officers and also arrest two out of them. The reason is that they have committed serious dereliction of duty. They are presiding officers of Chhatrapur booth no. 27 and Chhatrapur polling station no.163. They will be suspended and also arrested. Further, it has been ordered to suspend the presiding officer of Gopalpur booth no. 193”.
Earlier today, Dhal had ordered for suspension of two polling officials- one polling officer and one presiding officer.
On Monday, Odisha’s 1st phase elections were held for four Parliamentary Constituencies of Berhampur, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi along with 28 Assembly Constituencies.
