The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted Nor’wester rains in Odisha beginning April 12, bringing relief from the scorching heat.
As per the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and occasional hail are expected in various parts of the state.
The IMD has warned that wind speeds could reach up to 70-75 kilometers per hour during this period. A trough line developing in northern India is expected to trigger these conditions, with rainfall likely to continue until April 17.
Currently, a low-pressure area persists over the northeast Bay of Bengal, intensifying wind patterns across the state. This has resulted in a mix of cloudy skies and brief intervals of clear weather. Meanwhile, light rain is anticipated in interior Odisha on Friday.
However, following the rains, temperatures are predicted to rise after April 14, with interior regions potentially crossing the 40°C mark.
