The mortal remains of Prashant Satpathy, the Odia tourist who lost his life in the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, were consigned to flames with full honors at his native village, Ishani, under Remuna block in Balasore district on Thursday.
A wave of grief swept through the village as hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their last respects. Family, friends, neighbors, and local dignitaries participated in the solemn funeral procession, their faces etched with sorrow and disbelief over the tragic loss.
Satpathy was one of the many victims brutally killed in a targeted terrorist attack that shook the nation. The incident, which reportedly claimed over two dozen lives, has drawn widespread condemnation and grief across the country.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the bereaved family and announced an ex-gratia of ₹20 lakh for Satpathy’s kin. The government has also assured a job for his wife and full educational support for his son.
