Tamil film icon Ajith Kumar, fondly known as “Thala,” was injured in an overwhelming crowd surge at Chennai Airport on Tuesday evening.
The 53-year-old actor was returning from New Delhi after being honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Fans gathered in massive numbers to catch a glimpse of the superstar, but the situation spiralled out of control, leaving Ajith with a minor leg injury. Sources confirm that he was promptly admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for physiotherapy and is expected to be discharged soon.
Ajith expressed his gratitude for the award, calling it a surreal moment that motivates him to continue striving in his illustrious career. Despite an underwhelming start to the year with Vidaamuyarchi, his recent blockbuster Good Bad Ugly shattered records to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025.
The incident at Chennai Airport highlights the unwavering love and enthusiasm fans have for Ajith Kumar, while also raising concerns about the need for better crowd management at public events involving celebrities.
