Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has officially announced that its pending elections will be held following the upcoming international cricket match scheduled for Dec 24.
The decision was taken during a Special General Body meeting of the association, where members unanimously resolved to prioritise the successful hosting of the international fixture at Kataka before initiating the electoral process.
Officials emphasised that concentrating executive resources on event logistics, infrastructure readiness, and protocol compliance remains the immediate operational focus.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of significant legal scrutiny. The deferment of the elections—which were originally due following the completion of the previous office-bearers’ tenure—had previously been challenged in the Orissa High Court.
Addressing the matter, OCA representatives maintained before the court and general body that administrative continuity was essential to fulfil international commitments and adhere to standard governing procedures.
With the schedule now formally agreed upon by the general council, the electoral roadmap for new office-bearers will commence immediately after the December 24 match concludes.
