Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued a high-alert update detailing comprehensive administrative preparations as another cyclone threatens coastal and hilly regions of the state.
Addressing critical safety measures, the SRC announced that mandatory evacuation operations in vulnerable areas will commence by Sunday evening to move at-risk populations to safe shelters.
A primary focal point of the state’s preparedness strategy is the hilly district of Gajapati, where authorities have identified 150 landslide-prone locations.
District officials have been directed to execute swift, proactive evacuations along these hazardous slopes to avert potential casualties caused by severe rain-induced landslides.
To ensure seamless logistics during and after the storm’s landfall, the SRC ordered a substantial surge in emergency stockpiling across all regional relief centres.
Essential supplies—including food packets, drinking water, medical kits, and power backup equipment—are being mobilised in large quantities. Disaster response teams, including ODRAF and NDRF units, have been strategically deployed near vulnerable zones to handle immediate rescue, clearance, and relief missions.
