A dynamic batting exhibition powered by rapid half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer propelled Team India to a competitive total of 191/8 in the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton.
Opting to attack from the outset after being sent in to bat, India gained swift momentum through Kishan, who smashed a blistering 61 off just 32 balls. Shreyas Iyer maintained the aggressive tempo with a crisp 50 off 23 deliveries, anchoring the middle order with authority.
However, New Zealand pacer Adam Milne delivered an exceptional spell to check India’s late acceleration. Milne registered outstanding figures of 4/19 in his four overs, taking vital wickets to pull back the scoring rate in the closing overs.
New Zealand now require 192 runs to secure victory in the series decider.
