The Bhubaneswar Mahila Police have arrested a youth on charges of sexual exploitation and breach of trust under the pretext of marriage. The accused, who was apprehended from Kataka, was forwarded to a local court following his arrest.
According to police sources, the incident originated in the Salia Sahi area of Bhubaneswar, where the accused was previously employed as a security guard. During his tenure there, he befriended the victim and gradually built a romantic relationship with her.
The victim alleged in her complaint that the accused lured her into a physical relationship by assuring her of marriage. He reportedly continued the relationship for nearly two years. However, when the victim pressured him to fulfill his commitment and marry her, the accused backtracked and attempted to sever all ties with her.
Upon receiving the formal complaint at the Mahila Police Station, officers registered a case and initiated a probe. Following investigative leads, a police team traced the suspect to Kataka, apprehended him, and brought him back to Bhubaneswar. He was subsequently presented before the court and sent to judicial custody.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to collect essential evidence to strengthen the prosecution’s case. Authorities emphasized that strict legal action will be taken to ensure justice for the victim while advising citizens to remain vigilant against fraudulent romantic promises.
