Nuapada flood preparedness directive

With continuous rainfall raising the possibility of flood‑like conditions in low‑lying areas, the Nuapada district administration has intensified preparedness measures under the directives of Collector Madhusudan Dash.

Senior officers have been deployed across blocks and NAC areas to monitor the situation and coordinate with BDOs, tehsildars, executive officers and line departments. They will keep close watch on rivers, canals, reservoirs and vulnerable points, ensuring immediate response to any breaches, infrastructure damage or loss of life and property.

The Collector instructed that rescue, relief and restoration operations be expedited, with emergency shelters, free kitchens and essential supplies made available to displaced families. Officers have been told to remain in their jurisdictions and report any incidents promptly to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC).

Departments including Fire Services, ODRAF, NDRF, police, health, rural water supply and power have been asked to maintain coordination for rapid response. A 24×7 control room has been activated to monitor developments until conditions normalise.

Dash urged citizens to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and avoid believing in rumours. “Public safety is paramount. All departments must ensure effective monitoring and coordination to manage any adverse situation swiftly,” the Collector’s office stated.
