BNS 163 Singhanath Bhattarika flood alert

Authorities have imposed BNS 163 at the Singhanath and Bhattarika shrines in Narasinghpur as the Mahanadi river continues to rise, prompting strict safety measures.

The order was issued by the Badamba tehsildar, restricting public access and gatherings near the riverbanks to prevent accidents. Officials said the rising water level posed risks to devotees and residents in the vicinity.

BNS 163 is a safety code enforced during flood emergencies, mandating restrictions on movement and activities in vulnerable areas. With the Mahanadi swelling, the administration has tightened vigil at the shrines and surrounding regions.

Local authorities have urged people to avoid visiting riverbanks and follow official advisories until the situation stabilises. Emergency teams remain on alert to respond to any eventualities.

The imposition of BNS 163 underscores the seriousness of the flood threat in Kataka district, where precautionary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property.
