India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Thursday delivered a strong message against terrorism at the International Security Forum in Moscow, saying there can be “no double standards” in dealing with terror threats and their sponsors.
Speaking at the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters hosted by Russian official Sergei Shoigu, Doval called on responsible nations to take a clear stand against countries and organisations supporting terrorism.
“There cannot be double standards in the fight against terrorism,” Doval said while addressing global security representatives at the forum focused on emerging international security challenges in a multipolar world.
The senior Indian official stressed that the international community must adopt a unified and decisive approach to counter terrorism, especially amid rising geopolitical tensions and security threats across regions.
Doval also highlighted the urgent need to reform global institutions created after the Second World War, stating that current international structures must evolve to address modern-day security concerns more effectively.
He emphasised that countries from the Global South should receive greater representation and stronger participation in global decision-making processes.
According to Doval, inclusive reforms are essential to ensure that developing nations have a meaningful voice in shaping international security policies and economic cooperation frameworks.
Addressing the strategic importance of global trade routes, Doval underlined the need to maintain safe and uninterrupted maritime movement through critical waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
The remarks come at a time when instability in West Asia and ongoing geopolitical conflicts have raised concerns over global shipping security and energy supply chains.
Doval is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Moscow forum over the next two days, focusing on regional security cooperation, counter-terrorism efforts, and strategic partnerships.
India has consistently advocated a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism at international platforms and has repeatedly urged the global community to avoid selective responses when addressing terror-related issues.
