Indian Railways has announced the introduction of a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service connecting Charlapalli (near Hyderabad, Telangana) and Shalimar (Kolkata, West Bengal).
This move regularises the earlier special train (07225/07226) into a permanent, affordable, and comfortable long-distance option aimed at boosting connectivity across southern and eastern India.
The Train No. 17065 Charlapalli – Shalimar Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Charlapalli every Tuesday starting April 7, 2026, at 06:55 hrs, arriving at Shalimar the next day (Wednesday) at 11:20 hrs.
In the return direction, Train No. 17066 Shalimar – Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express will leave Shalimar every Wednesday from April 8, 2026, at 12:50 hrs, reaching Charlapalli on Thursday at 19:00 hrs.
Covering approximately 1,546 km in about 28 hours, the train will halt at several key stations, including major stops under East Coast Railway such as Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Berhampur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, and Bhadrak, among others. It is expected to serve passengers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, offering enhanced mobility for students, migrant workers, traders, tourists, and pilgrims.
As part of the Amrit Bharat series, the train provides non-air-conditioned, budget-friendly travel with general and sleeper class coaches, focusing on reliability, comfort, and affordability for the common traveller. This new link is anticipated to stimulate local economies, ease travel congestion on existing routes, and promote regional tourism and pilgrimage.
Passengers are encouraged to verify the full timetable, stoppages, and availability via official Indian Railways platforms or enquiry channels before booking.
