Naveen Asks District Collectors To Step Up Measures To Contain COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the District Collectors to step measures to fight the double and triple mutant of coronavirus.

At a review meeting on Tuesday, Patnaik said if the rate of infection comes down, then the pressure on ICUs and beds will automatically reduce. He said efforts must be made to tackle the present coronavirus condition the way we have tackled the natural calamities. He asked the District Collectors and SPs to work at the grassroots to fight out the corona.

The Chief Minister said oxygen plays a dominant role in the treatment of coronavirus and urged the district authorities to rope in the services of frontline Covid warriors.

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said the officials are alert and Covid Care Centres have been activated to deal with the present situation. He said as the neighbouring states have been severely affected due to coronavirus. He said online real-time bed management will be introduced soon for the smooth management of coronavirus situation.

Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra said there is no shortage of Remedesivir and Favipiravir medicines and added that the hoarders will be punished.

Police DG Abhay said 90 oxygen tankers have been sent to different states with the assistance of police personnel. The DG fire services said the fire fighting mechanism in Covid hospitals has been reviewed on daily basis.

The District Collectors of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Balasore, and Khurda have presented their review report at the meeting with CM. Chief Minister’s 5T Secretary V K Pandian had moderated the meeting. Development Commissioner PK Jena and other high-level officials were present during the review meeting.
