Athagarh: The toll gate at Mundali barrage here in Cuttack district has been closed until further order.
The district administration took the decision following a bloody clash between some tourists and toll staff over payment toll fee.
Athagarh sub-collector Hemant Kumar Swain said further decision will be taken after meeting with Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation.
According to reports, a brawl broke out between some tourists from Chhattisgarh and toll employees over payment of toll fee.
Tourists from the neighboring State were returning to home after visiting various places in Odisha. They were travelling in two buses. The toll gate staff had allegedly demanded money as toll fee more than the stipulated amount. The bus staff opposed it, which led to a bloody battle.
In the fight, 11 tourists and three toll employees were injured, who have been admitted to Athagarh health centre. A critical toll gate employee has been shifted to Cuttack.
Meanwhile, Athagarh police detained four toll gate staff and is questioning them.
Sub-collector Swain condemned the incident and assured strict action against perpetrators.
The administration has made arrangement for the accommodation and food for the tourists.
