Mumbai witnessed relentless rainfall early Monday morning, triggering severe waterlogging across the city.

With over 250 flights affected and major transport systems disrupted, residents are bracing for more extreme weather conditions as the monsoon advances.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) initially issued a yellow alert but later upgraded it to a red alert following intense thunderstorm activity. Several areas, including Kurla, Sion, Dadar, and Parel, are submerged under water, leading to slow-moving traffic and stranded commuters.

Local train services on the Central, Western, and Harbour lines have reported delays, compounding the city’s transport woes. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured that disaster management officials are fully mobilised to ensure safety and swift rescue operations.

The IMD warns that more rainfall is expected within the next 3–4 hours, with gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph. The city administration urges residents to remain cautious, avoid non-essential travel, and stay updated on weather advisories.
