Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei on Saturday dismissed claims by US President Donald Trump that Tehran was nearing surrender, declaring that Washington would only win “in its own imagination.”
Responding to Trump’s recent remarks in Denton, Texas, where the US President claimed Iran was “ready to fold up” and that the conflict would be “very quickly ended,” Rezaei posted a sharp critique on X, calling Trump the “worst president in American history.”
After one failure after another, the worst president in American history just keeps talking—and talking—and now his words have even outrun his own fantasies. You can win every day in your own imagination. But reality is shaped by Iran—by its people, its soldiers, and its missiles.

The sharp rhetoric comes amid escalating financial pressure from Washington, which has clamped down on Tehran’s crude exports and expanded sanctions under ‘Operation Outcast’. Tensions in the region remain heightened following earlier military strikes, the blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, and an unravelling ceasefire framework.
Meanwhile, top US national security aides—including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe—met at Camp David on Friday to strategise on the Iran conflict and the broader Saudi-Houthi crisis in Yemen.
